The ideal candidate must fully understand the principles of care and the value of fine art and furniture and can perform the following tasks:

 

Primary duties and responsibilities are:

  • Loading and securing all goods in vehicle for safe transport
  • During quiet periods you may be required to assist with warehouse duties
  • Completing detailed inventories for all goods collected
  • Uphold company values of providing excellent service to our customers
  • Execute work as instructed to a high standard
  • Comply at all times with DFT vehicle standards
  • Complete regular vehicle checks
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of our vehicles both internally and externally
  • Work safely and responsibly adhering to company policies at all times
  • Collections and deliveries of fine art, antiques and interior design furniture

Essential skills:

  • Preferred HGV class 1 licence  however we will consider HGV class 2 licence holders that show the required attributes, we will then offer the opportunity to train to HGV class 1
  • Up to date CPC qualification
  • Digital tacho card
  • Experience in a fast paced working environment
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work to very tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexible with working hours
  • Full comprehension of the written and spoken English language
  • Professional appearance 
  • Comfortable interacting with clients face to face

The successful candidate will be detail orientated and have an intimate knowledge of art packing and storage.

Requirements for this position include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Packing contemporary and fine art for transport and storage as well as antiques and furniture.
  • Applied experience in packing items for export containers and air freight.
  • Knowledge and experience in handling a variety of artworks, furniture and specialised items.
  • A sensitivity to materials for packing and their selection in relation to the items at hand.
  • A knowledge of archival packing materials.
  • Ability to build light packing (Shadow boxes, Slip cases etc.)
  • Ability to complete inventory paperwork clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to travel for different jobs at short notice.
  • Flexibility to be on-site at different locations for jobs.
  • Ability to handle all types of artwork and build out crating to pack artwork.

The ideal candidate must fully understand the principles of care and the value of fine art and furniture and can perform the following tasks both in the warehouse and on site.

  • Drive a 26ft truck
  • Complete multi collections and deliveries across the Tri State area
  • Preparation and completion of paperwork
  • Pick up and deliver a variety of artworks including paintings, sculptures, antiques and furniture.
  • Inspect and determine how to pack for transport
  • Understands how to properly wrap, load, span, tie in artworks within a truck to keep them safe and stable during transport
  • Select proper archival and other packing materials depending upon the medium, surfaces, condition and fragility of the works in question.
  • Pack artworks, sculptures and furniture of all descriptions.
  • Install artworks professionally in settings ranging from corporate to residential, including selection of proper hardware and exercise of aesthetic judgment as needed
  • Prepare condition reports and photographs artworks as needed
  • Complete critical paperwork such as inventories and bills of lading with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Has the “people” skills and situational awareness to work with a partner or larger crew in a seamless way, taking leadership and direction as needed to complete the task at hand
