A Natural History Adventure

Never before on public display outside of London, Dippy the Diplodocus is on a mission to encourage families and schools to explore nature on their doorstep.

His epic mission will see him visit Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and five regions across England. And Williams & Hill will be with him every step of the way.

Dippy facts

'Diplodocus carnegii' was a herbivore that lived between 156 and 145 million years ago during the late Jurassic period. He would have weighed around 13 tonnes when he was alive.

When railroad workers unearthed the fossilised bones of a Diplodocus in Wyoming, USA in 1898, newspapers billed the discovery as the ‘most colossal animal ever on Earth’.

King Edward VII saw a sketch of a Diplodocus carnegii while visiting Andrew Carnegie. He remarked how he’d like a similar specimen for the Natural History Museum, so Carnegie commissioned a replica to be cast.

Dippy has delighted visitors since he arrived in London in 1905. He immediately became a star featuring in newspaper cartoons, news reports and even starring in films.
